I started taking in chinchillas in 2004 when we were asked to take 19 chins from an owner who was unable to keep hers any longer . Since then working with Donna and Graham as a part of Chins4life I have taken in many that have been sick, neglected or simply because owners have no longer been able to keep them through no fault of their own
We aim to rehome wherever possible but there are occasions when chins are not able to leave usually due to ill health and in that situation they lives their days out with us The chins live as part of our family and have regular playtimes and plenty of toys and stimulation
We never separate bonded pairs and aim to have as many males castrated as possible .
Our adoption process is thorough to ensure we find the best possible home that can offer the love and care that they so deserve.
As with all rescue chins they are not to be used for breeding and an adoption agreement is required agreeing to that. A donation is also required
If you are interested in adopting please bear in mind that chins are exotic animals who can live up to 20yrs. They reqiure a specialist diet and vets bills can become expensive They are not suitable pets for children and we do not rehome to anyone under 18yrs.
Our rehoming policy
1. To ensure that the chins is fed an appropriate diet of pellets and good quality hay
2. To keep the animal as a household pet in the Adopter's own home
3. To provide a suitable cage, diet, toys , exercise etc.
4. To provide care, affection, and attention for the animal
5. To promptly obtain and be willing to pay for experienced veterinary care if the chin becomes sick or has an injury etc
6. To not abandon, sell, give away, dispose of or relinquish custody
or possession of the animal except to return it to us
7. To not use the animal for breeding.
